About the Role
At Johnson Memorial Hospital, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Geriatric Wellness unit specializes in mental health care for elderly patients experiencing psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease. This role involves direct patient care, emotional support, medication administration, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic and compassionate treatment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and monitor psychiatric symptoms in elderly patients.
- Work closely with physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
- Valid RN License in Connecticut.
- BLS/CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
Qualifications
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Preferred: One or more years of Psychiatric or Geriatric experience in an acute inpatient setting.
Schedule
- Part-time: 24 hours per week, day shift.
- Every other weekend and holiday required.
