Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for surgical patients.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Administer medications accurately, adhering to safety policies and understanding medication principles.
- Maintain aseptic techniques, prepare operating rooms, and assist with surgical procedures including C-sections.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, document care and responses, and ensure proper handling of specimens.
- Respond swiftly to changes in patient condition, demonstrating critical thinking and flexibility.
- Provide age-appropriate care by understanding growth and development principles.
- Promote professional growth, serve as a role model, and support collegial interactions.
- Follow safety protocols for patient identification, surgical site verification, and time-outs.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current Connecticut RN license.
- CPR certification upon hire.
- Previous experience in surgical or labor and delivery, particularly assisting with C-sections.
- Effective communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and ability to work under stress.
- Knowledge of medication safety, aseptic techniques, and age-specific patient care.
