Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for surgical patients.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
  • Administer medications accurately, adhering to safety policies and understanding medication principles.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques, prepare operating rooms, and assist with surgical procedures including C-sections.
  • Communicate effectively with the surgical team, document care and responses, and ensure proper handling of specimens.
  • Respond swiftly to changes in patient condition, demonstrating critical thinking and flexibility.
  • Provide age-appropriate care by understanding growth and development principles.
  • Promote professional growth, serve as a role model, and support collegial interactions.
  • Follow safety protocols for patient identification, surgical site verification, and time-outs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current Connecticut RN license.
  • CPR certification upon hire.
  • Previous experience in surgical or labor and delivery, particularly assisting with C-sections.
  • Effective communication skills, basic computer proficiency, and ability to work under stress.
  • Knowledge of medication safety, aseptic techniques, and age-specific patient care.
