Registered Nurse (RN) - General Surgery

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans for surgical patients.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to implement and evaluate patient care.
• Administer medications accurately, following safety protocols and age-specific guidelines.
• Maintain patient safety and promote positive outcomes by adhering to policies for identification and procedures.
• Document nursing care and patient responses promptly and accurately.
• Operate effectively under stress, utilizing critical thinking, organization, and delegation skills.
• Provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles.
• Prepare surgical rooms, maintain aseptic technique, and communicate effectively with the surgical team.
• Assist with specimen handling, ensure accurate counts, and function effectively in scrub roles.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an active Connecticut RN license.
• CPR certification required.
• Experience in surgical or labor and delivery, specifically assisting with C-sections.
• Effective communication skills in English and basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of medication administration, aseptic techniques, and surgical safety protocols.
• Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to ongoing growth and mentoring.
