About the Role
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who is educated in the art and science of nursing, with the goal of assisting patients attain, maintain, and restore health when possible. The registered nurse provides patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Accreditation Standards, the CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care utilizing the Nursing Process.
- Adhere to the MS Nurse Practice Act, ANA Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
- Follow Accreditation Standards, CDC Guidelines for Infection Control, and SRHS Departments of Nursing Plan for Provision of Care, Treatment, and Services.
- Supervise LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and Unit Technicians.
Requirements
- Graduate from an NLN School of Nursing.
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Mississippi.
- Complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Specialty certifications required for specific areas (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP) within 12-18 months of starting in the specialty.
- De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days).
- A minimum of one (1) year of inpatient clinical experience, preferred (must be within the past five years or evidence of successful refresher program).

Physical Demands
- Moderately active work involving sitting, moving about the office/facility, and traveling within the SRHS service area.
- Exerting negligible force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body.
- Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, which may carry infectious disease hazards.
- Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers (e.g., computer keyboard use).
- Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels and make fine discriminations in sound.
- Close visual acuity and ability to adjust focus (e.g., shifting gaze from a computer monitor to printed material).
- Ability to be active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends as needed by the hospital.

Shift: 7AM-7PM
