Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care through the nursing process.
- Collaborate with other professional disciplines.

Requirements
- Individualized orientation period of no less than 2 weeks and generally no greater than 3 months.
- Ability to practice nursing as defined.
- Utilize the nursing process in the provision of care.
- Administer prescribed treatments, medications, and diagnostic tests.
- Formulate a plan of care using the problem list.
- Collaborate with other health care providers.
- Provide education to patients and/or significant others.

Description
Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, identification of nursing problems, implementation, and evaluation. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Serves as a resource nurse when oriented and so directed. Supports the organization’s mission, vision and values. Applies knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity, along with their spiritual and emotional needs into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Physical Requirements
- Maintain good physical and emotional well-being.
- Requires a considerable amount of physical work.
- Required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment.
- Lift or push up to 50 pounds.
- Bend over to perform certain duties.
- Maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies.
- Requires interpretation of environmental input requiring visual and auditory skills.
- A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.
- Trips to various departments will be required.
- Heavy exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
- May require wearing gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles due to exposure to infectious wastes and body fluids.
