Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of individuals and accurately document pertinent information related to triage, behavioral health, physical health, and substance‑use concerns.
- Demonstrate expertise in crisis intervention and de‑escalate potentially aggressive situations in a safe, therapeutic manner.
- Provide education to individuals and their families regarding behavioral‑health diagnoses, medications, and treatment options.
- Complete detailed nursing assessments and document triage, medical/behavioral‑health findings, and medication administration using appropriate tools.
- Accurately record all medication brought in by the individual on a medication‑reconciliation/storage form.
- Plan individual treatment as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Educate patients, families, and care partners about psychiatric diagnoses, treatment options, psychopharmacology, and overall health literacy.
- Intervene with verbal techniques to diffuse out‑of‑control or potentially dangerous behaviors.
- Apply therapeutic‑option theory and technique, describing and demonstrating the RN’s roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of seclusion/restraint standards, guidelines, and techniques; initiate documentation and debriefing for any incidents.
- Accurately transcribe provider orders and administer medications as prescribed; obtain medication‑consent signatures when possible.
- Perform chart checks and sign off as a second note on prescribed medications.
- Draw labs and provide wound care as ordered by providers.
- Provide daily programming and group sessions.
- Complete all required training, attend monthly meetings, and maintain required competencies.
- Conduct nurse‑to‑nurse handoff at discharge or when accepting an individual from another facility.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
- Unrestricted active license as a Registered Professional Nurse through the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a multistate licensure privilege.
- Ability to perform Safe Clinch patient restraint techniques.
- Competency and experience conducting alcohol or other‑drug‑focused nursing assessments on an ASAM 3.7 unit.
- Compliance with the company’s mandatory vaccination policy (fully vaccinated or exempt per company process).
- State of Virginia fingerprint clearance.
- Pass Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (VA DBHDS) background check.
- Pass Virginia Department of Social Services (VA DSS) Office of Background Investigations – Central Registry Search.
- Physical ability to safely perform interventions (standing, pivoting, reaching, kneeling, lowering to the floor, supporting another person’s weight), lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 lb occasionally, and tolerate prolonged walking, standing, and observation in a fast‑paced environment.
- Capability to work with individuals who may exhibit agitation, aggression, or unpredictable behavior.
- Preferred: 3 years of psychiatric, behavioral‑health, or related experience.
- Preferred: Previous emergency‑room or crisis psychiatric care experience.
- Preferred: Experience working with individuals with addiction and addiction management.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Pay
Virginia pay range $49 – $68.15 USD. Actual compensation is based on relevant experience, education, internal equity, and budget.
Schedule
- + $2 /hr Monday‑Thursday nights
- + $6 /hr Friday‑Sunday nights
- + $2 /hr Saturday‑Sunday days
