As an RN – Endoscopy, you will provide nursing care to patients undergoing gastrointestinal and related endoscopic procedures, including pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure assistance, monitoring of sedation and patient response, and post-procedure recovery. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care throughout the procedural experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care before, during, and after endoscopy procedures.
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation and manage patient responses during procedures.
• Assist physicians with endoscopic procedures including biopsies, polyp removal, and hemostasis.
• Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and cardiac rhythms, reporting changes promptly.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure patient education and discharge instructions.
• Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
• Handle specimens appropriately and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and staff education.
• Respond effectively to emergencies and follow facility emergency protocols.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), required within time frame specified in facility policy.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), required within time frame specified in facility policy.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), preferred.
• Minimum 6 months of clinical nursing experience in a direct patient care setting preferred.
• Previous endoscopy, perioperative, or critical care experience preferred.
