Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department (ER)

About the role

The Emergency Department at Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This position offers multiple shifts including Day, Evening, and Night shifts (12-hour shifts).

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments and design personalized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments, and evaluate patient responses
• Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care
• Maintain vigilance in monitoring and recording vital signs, observing changes in patient conditions, and responding promptly with appropriate interventions
• Utilize sound clinical judgment to address complex health situations, consult with medical team members as needed, and document all care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
• Ensure patient safety, adhere to evidence-based protocols, and foster a supportive and empathetic environment
• Perform competent level of nursing care using the nursing process
• Apply clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by clinical area(s)

Requirements

• 2 years of hospital-based RN experience is preferred
• 2 years of Emergency Room Experience (Preferred)
• Critical care experience in hospital preferred
• 2 years of acute care Registered Nurse Experience preferred
• Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
• Communicates effectively with patients and providers

Qualifications

• Registered nursing License (Required)
• AACLS required prior to completion of orientation
• PALS required prior to completion of orientation
• BLS required within 90 days of hire

• Sound clinical judgment

• Knowledge of emergency room procedures and protocols
