Registered Nurse RN Emergency Department

About the role
The Emergency Department (ED) primarily cares for adults in need of emergency services. The department consists of 46 licensed beds and utilizes the split-flow model for patients who do not require a bed and are not in critical condition. Annually, the ED treats over 60,000 patients and is an American College of Surgeons Provisional Level 3 Trauma Center. The team is highly focused on delivering state-of-the-art Stroke, Cardiac, and Pediatric Care, maintaining accreditations in NIHSS Stroke Gold Elite Plus, Chest Pain, and Pediatric Preparedness. This is a cohesive, fun, and supportive environment with a strong "one team" culture.
We are currently accepting applications from experienced ED RNs and those with experience in MS, ICU, ED, PCU/Telemetry, and other acute care areas. Charge Nurse experience is encouraged.
Schedule
- Full-time positions available for Evening shifts: 2pm–2:30am and 12pm–12:30am
- Opportunity to utilize self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage
- 18% night-shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential
Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
- Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers
- Formulate, implement, and revise a plan of care based on assessment data and patient/family input
- Provide direct patient care, coordinate and delegate care activities, and supervise other licensed nurses and personnel
- Promote continuity of care through accurate and complete communication with other caregivers
- Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in accordance with policy
- Participate in shared leadership, education, orientation, and mentoring of staff, patients, students, and families
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and professional organizations to enhance patient outcomes
- Interact with multidisciplinary teams, physicians, patients, families, and external agencies to support patient care
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure
- BLS certification required
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice
- Experience in the clinical area for which you are applying is desired
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area of work
- Banner Registry and Travel positions require a minimum of one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting within the past 12 months
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, Banner Home Care/Hospice, or Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card. Employees at Banner MD Anderson or BUMC-P Whole Health Counseling must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. Employees at Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit must possess a Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card.
