About the role

HealthPark Medical Center, a Magnet hospital, is seeking an experienced Lactation Consultant Maternal Educator. This is a full-time position and requires flexibility to cover the occasional evening class.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive maternal, infant, and feeding assessments related to lactation.
• Provide education to clients concerning pregnancy, childbirth, lactation, and parenting.
• Demonstrate specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding.
• Use principles of adult education when teaching clients, healthcare providers, and others in the community.
• Provide education and counseling that encourages informed decision-making about childbirth and breastfeeding.
• Deliver care based on established clinical nursing practice standards (ANA, Florida Nurse Practice Act, IBLCE, and AWHONN).
• Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care and achievement of desired outcomes.
• Support the organization’s vision and mission.
• Incorporate knowledge of patients' age and cultural diversity into patient care.
• Contribute to quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years obstetrical or neonatal nursing experience and/or lactation education experience.
• IBCLC Certification required.
• Certification in Childbirth Education preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• State of Florida RN license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills and customer service skills.

Pay

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $35.04 - $47.30 per hour

Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Shift 1)
• 40 hours per week, 10-hour shifts, days.
• Covers every other Saturday.
• Occasional evening classes required.
