Registered Nurse (RN) - ED - Emergency Department - $25 per hour

About the role

The Nursing Attendant position at Montefiore Medical Center is located in the Emergency Department (ED) in Fort Lee, New Jersey. This role is available now and is ongoing. The position is staffed and does not require a grant fund.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, and ambulating.
• Maintains hygiene and grooming needs, including bathing, shaving, hair care, oral care, and perineal care.
• Facilitates patient mobility through range of motion exercises, transfers, and positioning.
• Maintains skin integrity using pressure-relieving devices, turning, and positioning.
• Provides patient comfort measures such as bed-making, positioning, and back rubs.
• Assists with elimination needs, administering enemas, and performing catheter care.
• Maintains a safe environment through observation, intervention, and adherence to infection control policies.
• Documents vital signs, obtains specimens, and reports variations from baseline.
• Administers hot and cold applications, prepares patients for surgery, and assists with diagnostic and therapeutic treatments.
• Supports emergency procedures and provides post-mortem care.
• Transports patients to and from units, diagnostic procedures, and other hospital locations.
• Maintains utility and service rooms, performs equipment checks, and replaces/restocks supplies.
• Communicates with patients and families, reports observations, and complies with patient rights and confidentiality.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent with vocational/technical training.
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Graduate of a State Certified Program or 1 year clinical experience as a nursing student/foreign graduate nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• OHS Fit Test and OHS Annual Assessment.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent with vocational/technical training.
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Graduate of a State Certified Program or 1 year clinical experience as a nursing student/foreign graduate nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Schedule
