About the role
The Dialysis Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process while delivering, directing, and supervising care to patients admitted to the nursing unit. The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides patient care, including interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization, and accessing community resources. May perform other related duties as assigned or requested, including Charge Nurse (ACLS certification required). Dialysis Nurses oversee dialysis treatments for patients suffering from acute or chronic kidney failure as ordered by physicians.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to deliver and supervise patient care
- Plan, coordinate, and provide patient care, including interdisciplinary collaboration
- Develop and implement discharge plans and patient/family education for post-hospitalization
- Access and coordinate community resources for patients
- Oversee dialysis treatments for patients with kidney failure
- Serve as Charge Nurse (ACLS certification required)
Requirements
- Active RN License in the state of application
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification (preferred initially, required after 90 days of employment; required from day 1 for Charge Nurses, High Obs, and ICU)
- Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) preferred but not required
