About the role
Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse, the Dialysis Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to deliver, direct, and supervise care to patients admitted to the nursing unit. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and providing patient care, interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization, and accessing community resources. May perform other related duties as assigned or requested, including serving as Charge Nurse (ACLS certification required). Dialysis Nurses oversee dialysis treatments for patients suffering from acute or chronic kidney failure as ordered by physicians.
Responsibilities
- Deliver and supervise patient care using the nursing process
- Plan, coordinate, and provide interdisciplinary care
- Develop and implement discharge plans
- Provide patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization
- Access and coordinate community resources
- Oversee dialysis treatments for patients with kidney failure
- Serve as Charge Nurse (if ACLS certified)
Requirements
- Active RN License in the state of application
- Current BLS certification
- Current ACLS certification (preferred initially; required after 90 days of employment; required from day 1 for Charge Nurses, High Obs, and ICU)
- Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) preferred but not required
