About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in the Dialysis Department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. They engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to enhance care processes and apply evidence-based practices. They utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, ensuring patients and families are involved throughout the care continuum.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
  • Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
  • Communicates effectively, provides feedback, resolves conflicts, and fosters team collaboration.
  • Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
  • Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately to other RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and colleagues.
  • Evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes and takes corrective actions as necessary.
  • Fulfills the requirements of the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making.
  • Works in a variety of units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services.
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
  • Experience typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in operating computer functions.
