Registered Nurse- (RN)- Dialysis
About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in the Dialysis Department at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. They engage in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to enhance care processes and apply evidence-based practices. They utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, ensuring patients and families are involved throughout the care continuum.
Responsibilities
- Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation.
- Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives.
- Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team.
- Administers medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to clinical protocols and procedures.
- Communicates effectively, provides feedback, resolves conflicts, and fosters team collaboration.
- Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
- Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making.
- Delegates tasks appropriately to other RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients and colleagues.
- Evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes and takes corrective actions as necessary.
- Fulfills the requirements of the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making.
- Works in a variety of units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services.
- Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
- Experience typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
