Registered Nurse (RN) Day Shift (Full-time) - Behavioral Health

Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116-bed facility located in the residential Kingwood community, about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency services and serves children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health, including intensive outpatient and partial hospital program services.

About the role

The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients—including child, adolescent, geriatric, and chemical dependency patients—using the nursing process. Responsibilities include assessing mental health needs, developing nursing diagnoses, identifying outcomes, planning and evaluating nursing care, administering and monitoring medications and treatments, ensuring safety, and providing milieu management and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors.
• Direct milieu management.
• Assess patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
• Contribute to treatment plans as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
• Document nursing care, treatment, and patient response to treatment.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and chemical dependency disorders and apply appropriate interventions.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate's Degree required; BSN preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
• Minimum of one (1) year of related experience; psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and HWC Crisis Intervention training must be completed prior to beginning work.

Schedule

Day Shift: 7 AM – 7 PM (rotating weekends required).
