Registered Nurse, RN - Clinical Manager of Cardiovascular Center
Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. Additionally, this role involves performing the following Nursing Leadership duties:
- Controls, directs, and participates in the activities of the organization through a hierarchy of managers and supervisors.
- Determines the policies of the organization, allocates its resources, and makes decisions regarding organization growth and diversification to accomplish the entity's vision.
- Serves as a management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing, and/or directing the responsibilities of employees.
- Supervises all levels of employees, setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results, ensuring policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers, and stakeholders.
Job Overview
The Clinical Manager oversees the daily clinical and administrative operations of designated unit(s). The Clinical Manager prepares staff schedules, requests, and allocates resources and ensures that patient care is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of Tufts Medicine.
Minimum Qualifications
- Massachusetts RN Licensure.
- 5 Years of RN Experience with at least 1 year as a charge/lead RN.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Duties and Responsibilities

- Identifies avenues to pursue own professional growth.
- Keeps current on regulatory issues and trends and employs strategies to meet standards in a proactive manner.
- Supervises staff by evaluating work performance, providing guidance, and timely feedback based on outcome measures.
- Participates in interdisciplinary rounds to address, patient/family needs, and discharge planning.
- Recognizes, responds, and provides follow-up on issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of the patient population and staff.
- Allocates resources and coordinates services to optimize patient care and services.
- Develops and monitors operating and capital budget; implements strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Performs performance reviews with staff.
- Participates in staff interview process, provides direction and discipline to staff as appropriate, and orients new staff to facility.
- Creates and fosters a learning environment that facilitates the professional growth and development of staff.
- Develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures.
- Leads and/or participates in hospital, departmental, and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils, and special projects.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care in accordance with standards of practice.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.
- Exposure of blood-borne pathogens.
- Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.
- Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.

- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team.
- Ability to maintain and develop clinical knowledge, judgment, and skills.
- Knowledge of and application of the nursing process.
- Possesses strong clinical and theoretical skills.
