Registered Nurse - RN - Cardiac Lab

Schedule
- Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 9:30 PM
- 3–12 hours per week
- Every 3rd weekend
- No holidays
- One late shift per week
About the Role
The Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Hartford Hospital consists of four suites, two monitoring rooms, two scrub areas, a supply room, and a holding area. Approximately 5,000 diagnostic cardiac catheterizations are performed annually, with 1,500 becoming interventions. The hospital’s operating room provides 24-hour backup for open-heart surgery if needed.
This role involves caring for patients undergoing a variety of catheterization and interventional procedures, including conscious sedation/analgesia administration. Familiarity with IABP, cardiac drugs, and emergency care is required. Nurses work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment focused on patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing support for complex catheterization and interventional procedures
- Utilize the nursing process to develop and implement patient care plans addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs
- Administer conscious sedation/analgesia and manage emergency care as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a patient-centered care model
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)
- Current Connecticut RN license
- 2–4 years of experience in cardiology, with critical care highly preferred
- Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience preferred
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a close team environment
