Job Summary
The Cardiac Catheterization lab at Hartford Hospital is comprised of four suites, two monitoring rooms, two scrub areas, a supply room and a holding area. Approximately 5,000 diagnostic cardiac caths are performed annually, with 1,500 becoming interventions. Hartford Hospital's operating room provides 24-hour backup for open-heart surgery.
Primary Responsibilities
- Nursing support for a variety of complex catheterization and interventional procedures.
- Familiarity with IABP, cardiac drugs, and emergency care.
- Provides holistic, quality, and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others within a unit, service, or other primary area of practice.
- Works collaboratively in a team environment, focusing on a patient-centered care model in a diverse work setting.
- Utilizes evidence-based practices according to the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and medical staff directives.
- Develops a plan of care using standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
Qualifications
- External graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current CT license.
- 2-4 years minimum experience in cardiology, with critical care highly preferred.
- Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
- Collaborative and flexible, working in a close team environment.
- BLS from the American Heart Association required.
