Qualifications

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited Nursing Program
  • Minimum 3 years RN experience in Oncology
  • Provision of compassionate Care
  • BSN Degree (Preferred)
  • OCN Certification (Preferred)

Certifications and Licenses Required

  • Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certification

Scheduling Requirements

  • Day Shift
  • Full Time 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday, 8A-6P

Essential Functions

  • Provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards
  • Affirms awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics
  • Maintains a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available
  • Reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors
  • Knowledge of the patient population served
  • Supervises and directs the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers
  • Consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement
  • Individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs

Other Duties

  • Assess, monitor, and manage oncology patients during clinic visit
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and symptom management
  • Cook up care, referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up appointments
  • Perform telephone triage and respond to patient concerns in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, infusion staff, navigators, and support services to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Promote patient safety, quality care, and an exceptional patient experience
