Registered Nurse (RN) Birth Center (LDRP) - 24 hours/week, night shift
About the Role
The Birth Center at Anna Jaques Hospital is a 12-bed, LDRP unit serving Newburyport and the surrounding Merrimack Valley. We offer private patient rooms with state-of-the-art technology, working closely with all disciplines and including our relationship with Beth Israel Lahey Health. We have 24/7 obstetrics and anesthesia coverage with a nursing staff of 45. We are a Baby Friendly Designated hospital with a strong focus on patient experience.
The Birth Center Nurse supports the care of mothers and newborns in a close-knit unit that provides exemplary patient-centered, high-quality care. We value a positive work culture and collaboration, offering an environment where you can form connections with patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Advocates for patients and families to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
- Documents all changes as well as relevant information regarding patient’s response to intervention, therapeutic regimens, and patient progress as it relates to plan of care and patient’s response to teaching.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, peers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Includes patient, family, and caregivers in all aspects of care while ensuring that all explanations are understandable.
- Cares for patients throughout triage, labor, delivery, recovery, circulate and cesarean sections, postpartum, and well newborn care.
- Attends deliveries when appropriate.
- Implements stabilization process according to NRP guidelines.
- Responds effectively and professionally in a crisis situation.
- Provides resources to assist patients and families with post-discharge needs.
Requirements
- Current Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility).
- BLS Certification.
- NRP required within six weeks of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- 2 years of LDRP experience strongly preferred.
- BSN preferred.
- Influenza vaccination required as a condition of employment.
Schedule
24 hours per week, including weekend and holiday rotations. Work shift: Nights, 11 PM – 7 AM.
Pay
Pay range: $36.93 - $80.96 per hour. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, and compensation is governed by its terms.
