About the Role
The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) will coordinate and deliver quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders. The RN will assume direct responsibility for observation, delegation, and leadership of the unit staff and patients, serving as a member of the multi-disciplinary team. The RN ensures the safety and well-being of each patient, follows all medical orders, initiates and follows treatment planning, and acts as a patient advocate.
- 72-bed facility with 3 units, 24 patients per unit
- 2 Nurses and 3 PCAs per unit
- 12-hour shifts
Responsibilities
- Assess patients and plan care within set timeframes, documenting findings according to policies
- Oversee and supervise the shift, including delegating tasks such as groups, close observation, and meal supervision
- Ensure nursing policies and procedures are followed and exemplary patient care is consistently delivered
- Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond accordingly, including notifying the physician
- Follow hospital policy for medication administration
- Interact with patients using empathy, dignity, and respect
- Deliver quality nursing care to ensure treatment plan goals are properly executed
- Assist in or perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients
Requirements
- Current state RN license
- Bachelor’s or associate degree from an accredited nursing school
- BLS certification
- One year of experience preferred
- Previous experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric, and geriatric patients preferred
- Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities

Pay
$42.55–$57.45 per hour
