About the role
As a home care registered nurse (RN), you will ensure hospice patients are comfortable and forge compassionate, meaningful connections with the people in their lives. This role comes with equal responsibility. Patients and families trust VITAS nurses to guide them through the end-of-life journey, and maintaining that trust is our highest priority.
You will be a respected member of our team, both as a caregiver and as a hospice educator. You will be entrusted with the autonomy to make care decisions at the bedside, ensuring not a moment is wasted in bringing comfort to your patients. You will help patients and their loved ones understand and embrace the palliative—rather than curative—nature of hospice and the benefits of comfort-focused end-of-life care.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, comfort-focused end-of-life care to hospice patients in their homes or assisted living/skilled nursing facilities.
- Make 4-6 patient visits per day, with weekly interdisciplinary team meetings at the local program office.
- Collaborate with social workers, physicians, chaplains, and other nurses to deliver holistic support for patients and families.
- Educate patients and families on the palliative nature of hospice care and its benefits.
- Exercise autonomy in making bedside care decisions to ensure patient comfort and dignity.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- At least two years of nursing experience.
- Reliable transportation.
- Commitment, compassion, and a can-do attitude.
- Dedication to patient welfare and extending comfort and dignity at the end of life.
Pay
$34 - $35 per hour.
