About the Role

NaphCare is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team of medical professionals in Facility Location, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals currently incarcerated in the Facility Name. As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to this unique patient population. This role offers a controlled environment where security is a top priority, and the days are never dull. We welcome new graduates and provide training in the exciting field of correctional healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
  • Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educate patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.

Qualifications

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state.
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required).
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and facility policies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and comply with all legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities

  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
