Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) support and collaborate with RNs to provide dialysis treatment to multiple patients at a time, starting work at 4 AM. They need prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience and have the opportunity to learn the discipline of dialysis.

Inpatient RN

Inpatient RNs perform dialysis treatments in a hospital setting, including ICU, ER, Rehab, and Med/Surg units. They must possess leadership skills, independence, and the ability to educate patients and provide exceptional customer service. Six months to one year of dialysis experience or critical care nursing experience is required.

Home Dialysis RN

The Home Dialysis RN is an entry-level position in the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This role involves providing and coordinating clinically competent care, assessing patients' responses to home dialysis training, and participating in decision-making and quality improvement activities. Essential duties include administering medications, initiating emergency response measures, and training patients and partners on safe dialysis procedures.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The position requires frequent standing, bending, and occasional lifting of up to 200 lbs. The work environment is characterized by air temperature control and moderate noise levels, with potential exposure to infectious and contagious diseases.

Supervision

Supervises LPNs/LVNs, RNs, Patient Care Technicians, and Home Therapy Care Team Assistants as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in charge. Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a RN and 3 months experience as a RN in home peritoneal dialysis and/or hemodialysis.

Education and Licensure

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, current appropriate state licensure, and current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification.

Experience and Required Skills

Entry-level for RNs with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of 1-year experience as a Registered Nurse (preferred) and home dialysis therapy experience (preferred).
