Registered Nurse (RN)
This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) position in DeLand, FL. Florida is a compact state, so RNs with licenses from other compact states are accepted. Additional background screening is not required if the candidate is already in the Clearinghouse, and a level 1 vendor background check meets requirements. The Florida Department of Health (DOH) does not require interviews or additional credentialing beyond verifying licenses in NURSYS and CRT licenses in DOH MQA, though license numbers must be provided.
Deployment Details
- DOH will notify at least 24 hours before deployment, which may last a few days with relief staff rotating in after 72 hours.
- Shifts are 12 hours on, 12 hours off, with off hours paid only if on-site. Off-site arrangements (e.g., hotels) are unpaid.
- Deployment is contingent on emergencies (e.g., hurricanes); shelters may not open otherwise.
Work Environment
- Contract staff must bring their own twin-sized cot/mattress/bedding; no bedding accommodations are provided.
- Sleeping arrangements are in a shared staff room at a school; showers are not guaranteed.
- DOH provides PPE (gloves, masks, hand sanitizer), but staff may bring preferred/respirator equipment.
- School cafeteria meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are provided during day shifts; staff should bring additional non-perishable snacks/food for dietary needs.
- IDs are required for on-site access and will be scanned for verification.
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
