About the role

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. Under minimal supervision, provides nursing care for a group of patients assigned to the nurse based on matching the patients’ needs with the nurse’s competencies. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum Experience: None.
• Preferred Experience: Two years in acute care. Previous clinical nursing experience.

Certifications & Licensure

• Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) – Must have active healthcare provider BLS on hire (ARC or AHA); must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role; should be completed before the end of the orientation period.
• AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) – Must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role; should be completed before the end of the orientation period.
• Fetal Heart Monitoring:
  • If Novice or New to Service Line RN:
    • Intro to Fetal Monitoring (Basic FM) within 30 days of hire.
    • AWHONN Intermediate FM within 9 months of hire, after completing Basic FM.
    • AWHONN Advanced FM within 9 months of completing Intermediate FM.
  • If Experienced in L&D:
    • AWHONN Intermediate FM – Must show evidence of successful completion within the past 2 years; if not, must complete within 6 months of hire.
    • AWHONN Advanced FM (AFM):
      • If current AWHONN completion – renew by recommended renewal date.
      • If completed Intermediate FM in the past 2 years – must complete AFM within 9 months of hire.
      • If obtained Intermediate FM after hire – must complete AFM within 9 months of Intermediate FM completion.
• S.T.A.B.L.E. – Must provide proof of prior completion or obtain within 6 months of hire or transfer date into unit (renewal only required for Maternal Transport Team).
