Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises nursing assistants
- Administers medications
- Completes required documentation
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Performs professional nursing services such as catheterization, wound care, and IV care
- Fosters a warm and collaborative environment
- Coordinates with physicians
- Ensures safety protocols are followed
- Maintains effective communication with residents, families, and staff
- Assists in all aspects of a resident’s daily life
- Communicates with clinical leadership when a resident's needs change
- Approaches and cares for residents with dementia
- Takes on other duties and assignments within the scope of knowledge and experience
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current unencumbered state license
- Knowledgeable of nursing & medical practices & procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities
- Experience in Long Term Care is preferred
- Willing to take additional training or education, which specific states may require
- CPR and First Aid certifications are required
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable while handling multiple priorities
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication
- Competent in organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Physical Demands
- Sit, stand, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the workday
- Lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Cope with the mental & emotional stress of the position
- May include health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
- Visual and auditory ability sufficient for written and verbal communication
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
