The Supervisor Nursing position at Southside Medical Center supports managers/directors in supervising and coordinating administrative and operational activities, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Supports managers/directors on larger units.
  • Assists with managers/directors in planning and maintaining department readiness for regulatory surveyors.
  • Facilitates implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives in assigned areas.
  • Works on ground support for frontline staff and assists in direct patient care as needed.
  • Models core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles.
  • Responsible for personal and professional growth, fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other medical staff, resolving conflicts effectively.

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, applying high reliability concepts, care delivery models, and patient care services.
  • Manages and develops staff, including staffing based on matrix, and participates in succession planning.

  • Analyzes data and information, creating operational objectives and strategies to achieve goals.
  • Supports mission and vision of the organization, adhering to organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (strongly preferred).
  • Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required).
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting).
  • Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units:
    • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred).
    • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred).
    • NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred).
    • TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred).
    • ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred).
  • National Board Certification Specialty (preferred).
  • Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred).
  • 2 years nursing experience with 1 year minimum clinical experience in the acuity level of desired area (preferred).
  • Charge nurse or management experience (preferred).
