About the role
Bon Secours – Southside Medical Center serves the communities of Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Fort Lee and Chester and the counties of Prince George, Dinwiddie, Sussex, Surry and Southern Chesterfield.
Responsibilities
- Leads a team of nurses and clinical support.
- Supports managers/directors on larger units.
- Performs managerial responsibilities 80% of time; works on ground support for frontline staff and assists in direct patient care as needed.
- Aids in planning and supervision of unit/department goals and objectives.
- Aids in planning and maintaining department's readiness for regulatory surveyors.
- Serves as professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource.
- Responsible for personal and professional growth as well as fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.
- Responsible for modeling core culture and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles.
- Facilitates implementation of change management, performance improvement, and strategic initiatives in assigned areas.
- Supports mission and vision of the organization and adheres to BSMH policies.
Requirements
- Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting)
- Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units:
- PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)
- ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)
- NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)
- TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)
- ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred)
- National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
- Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)
- Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred)
- 2 years nursing experience with 1-year minimum clinical experience in the acuity level of desired area (preferred)
- Charge nurse or management experience (preferred)
Qualifications
