About the Role
VCU Health Chesterfield Pavilion is a four-story, approximately 100,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building opening in April 2027 at 10031 Nash Road, Chesterfield, VA. We are hiring team members now to help build the future of outpatient care from the ground up.
This position is available at Clinical Nurse I, II, or III level depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family
- Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort
- Provide direction, education, and develop leadership skills at the unit level
- Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions
- For Clinical Nurse II: demonstrate mastery of clinical skills and apply knowledge to specific patient populations; recognize changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately; mobilize resources to meet individualized needs of patient/families
- For Clinical Nurse III: demonstrate clinical knowledge at the unit level and apply knowledge to specific patient populations; anticipate changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately; serve as a role model in a clinical setting
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state (required for hire and continued employment)
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent (required for continued employment)
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program recognized and/or approved by the corresponding state's Board of Nursing
- RNs without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing must enroll in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of start date and complete within five years
- Clinical Nurse I: no prior RN experience required
- Clinical Nurse II: 12 to 24 months RN experience
- Clinical Nurse III: 3 years of clinical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program
- Clinical Nurse I: Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
- Clinical Nurse II and III: Academic health care experience; experience with similar patient population in an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
- Clinical Nurse III: Certification in specialty area
Additional Position Details
- Clinicians work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Shift rotation and schedules established with Nurse Manager/Practice Manager; may be adjusted as necessary
- Age-specific groups served based on unit assignment
- Physical requirements: lifting 20-50 lbs; exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances; prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing, reaching
- Mental/sensory requirements: strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, clear speech, legible writing, reading, logical thinking
- Emotional requirements: fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment
Pay
$33.51 - $54.58 per hour. Actual salary offers based on relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
