Newark, DE – ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) passionate about caring for the elderly to join the 6A - Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit on the night shift (7p-7a), including weekends and holidays per department guidelines.

About the Unit

6A is a dedicated medical unit that cares for patients facing a range of challenging health conditions, including serious surgical issues (e.g., fractured hips), stroke recovery, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), back pain, and urinary tract infections (UTIs). Many patients also have underlying dementia, requiring a compassionate, comprehensive approach. Nurses care for five medical patients per shift and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including a unit-based Nurse Practitioner, physicians, pharmacy staff, physical therapists, and other support personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care for elderly patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Active DE RN License or a Compact Nursing License.
  • One year of experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated passion for working with older adults.
  • BLS certification required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; ADN accepted with a commitment to obtain BSN within three years of hire.
  • Gerontology Certification preferred.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $41.28 - $66.05. The actual salary will depend on individual factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
