About the role
As a Registered Nurse within the Adult Acute Care service line at Banner Ocotillo Medical Center, you will join a patient-centered team committed to an excellent work environment. This 30-bed unit blends PCU/Telemetry and Medical Surgical patients (inpatient, Observation, or Outpatient in a Bed status). Every room is telemetry-capable and equipped with the latest technology, including smart phones with Care Aware Connect for communication. The unit is designed to maximize nursing efficiency and bring joy back to the forefront of nursing practice. A background in post-surgical or surgical care is ideal.
Schedule
- 3×12-hour shifts (Night: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am)
- Weekend rotations via self-scheduling tool
- 18% night-shift differential
- Flat-rate $3/hour weekend-shift differential
Pay
- $15,000 hire-on bonus for RNs with 12 months of experience (requires 2-year commitment)

Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care in alignment with organizational policies and professional standards.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs.
- Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
- Formulate and revise individualized care plans based on patient needs, assessment data, and input from patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Implement care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities.
- Promote continuity of care through accurate communication with other caregivers.
- Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; adjust plans as needed.
- Document all aspects of care (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a timely, legible, and policy-compliant manner.
- Provide evidence-based care and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
- Engage in shared leadership, education, mentoring, and professional development activities.
- Contribute to national nursing quality indicators and outcomes through participation in professional organizations.
- Interact with multidisciplinary teams, physicians, patients, families, and external agencies to support patient care.
- Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family responses to health status changes.
- In some roles, supervise staff and manage department workflow.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim license, or compact RN licensure).
- BLS certification required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
- Clinical experience in the specialty area is desired; acute care settings require at least one year of experience within the past 12 months.
- Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations.
- For Home Health settings: Valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and ability to operate a personal vehicle.
- For specific facilities (Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, Banner Home Care/Hospice, Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility): Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card required at hire and maintained throughout employment.
- For Banner MD Anderson (Banner University Medical Center Phoenix): State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- For Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit: Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
- For Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health roles in Arizona: State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Professional certification in specialty area.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
