Registered Nurse-RN - Acute Psych III - FT - Day & Night Shifts Available
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Behavioral Health Full-Time Day Shift position at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center seeks a highly skilled professional to provide exceptional care to diverse patient populations. St. Mary’s is a 229-bed, acute care hospital in Enid, OK, serving northwest Oklahoma for over 100 years.
Responsibilities
- Ensures patient dignity and respects patient values.
- Provides for patient safety, privacy and confidentiality.
- Able to assess and reassess the needs of the patient.
- Completes nursing assessment within 24 hours of admission.
- Able to communicate needs of the patients.
- Conducts therapies in accordance with patient’s diagnosis and needs.
- Provides efficient discharge planning throughout process.
- Completes proper documentation of progress notes and assessment according to program procedures.
- Completes individualized treatment plans for each patient.
- Acts as the primary nursing care coordinator for assigned patients.
- Plans, implements and coordinates nursing care activities for assigned patients.
- Performs treatment intervention following physician orders such as medication administration and medical treatment orders.
- Interprets the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to non-professional staff members assigned to the patient.
- Participates in individual, group, family psychotherapy, and educational seminars as appropriate.
- Enacts the counseling role of the nurse.
- Documents continuous assessment, interventions and evaluations relative to patient progress.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, families and other healthcare providers.
- Coordinates treatment with other health and social agencies.
- Actively involved in measuring patient performance and communicating results and trends to supervisor.
- Identifies areas needing improvement and utilizes the facility performance improvement process.
- Actively participates in department processes as required.
- Evaluates the appropriateness and quality of nursing care in a contiguous fashion.
- Makes sure the facility is safe and reports deficiencies to supervisor.
- Coordinates the function of the therapeutic environment.
- Completes all required staff competencies per program regulations.
- Attends in-services, seminars, etc. to promote learning.
- Affirms the clinical performance of nursing staff under their direction in collaboration with the head nurse.
- Orients new employees.
- Provides consultation services to nursing staff on other units related to mental health and chemical dependency issues.
- Trained in CQI + and follows procedures of CQI+.
- Timely and accurate submission of CQI+ outcome data on a weekly basis including responsiveness to weekly feedback.
- Uses hygienic practices and teaches patient hygienic practices.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure from the State of Oklahoma required.
- ADN required, BSN preferred.
- Current BLS require, unless ACLS is obtained and maintained semi-annually.
- Secure training required within 60 days of hiring, renew annually thereafter.
- 1-3 Experience as a Mental Health RN preferred.
- Must successfully complete the pre-employment assessment.
- Basic computer skills required.
