About the role
On the Acute General Medicine Unit at UVA Health, you’ll deliver high-impact care to medically complex patients while practicing in a setting designed to support clinical excellence, teamwork, and sustainable nursing.
Responsibilities
- Care for adult patients with a broad spectrum of acute medical conditions, developing strong clinical judgment and cross-specialty knowledge.
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate treatment plans and optimize outcomes.
- Rely on a free-floating Charge Nurse on every shift, providing real-time support, guidance, and clinical leadership.
- Engage in critical thinking, prioritization, and rapid decision-making in a dynamic acute care environment.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
- Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
- Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

- Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
- May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
