About the role
The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Clinical Nurse (WOCN) provides specialized acute and rehabilitative care for patients with GI, GU, and Integumentary disorders.
Responsibilities
- Act as a clinical expert and consultant, developing individualized, evidence-based care plans, performing assessments, diagnoses, and treatments, including wound and ostomy management.
- Provide patient education and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and quality standards.
- Conduct hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), operate chambers, monitor patient response, and maintain equipment.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, participate in research, precept students, and support resource management.
Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelor’s Nursing degree.
- RN licensure (multi-state or single-state) and current BLS certification.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in acute care.
- Strong clinical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practice, safety standards, and hyperbaric procedures.
Preferred Skills
- Specialty certification.
- PALS and PALS-P certifications.
