About the role

The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Clinical Nurse (WOCN) provides specialized acute and rehabilitative care for patients with GI, GU, and Integumentary disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a clinical expert and consultant, developing individualized, evidence-based care plans, performing assessments, diagnoses, and treatments, including wound and ostomy management.
  • Provide patient education and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safety and quality standards.
  • Conduct hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), operate chambers, monitor patient response, and maintain equipment.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, participate in research, precept students, and support resource management.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Nursing degree.
  • RN licensure (multi-state or single-state) and current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in acute care.
  • Strong clinical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, safety standards, and hyperbaric procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Specialty certification.
  • PALS and PALS-P certifications.
