About the role

The Pulmonary Unit is a 36-bed telemetry unit dedicated to diagnosing and treating respiratory disorders. Nurses provide high-quality, specialized care for patients and their families, collaborating with departments like respiratory therapy, physical therapy, care management, and pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs quality, compassionate care adhering to professional nursing standards and fostering positive therapeutic relationships.
  • Supervises LPNs, PCAs, PTAs, PTs, OTs, and other non-licensed staff, assigning and delegating care based on patient needs.
  • Evaluates and reevaluates patient care, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams for patient-centered outcomes.
  • Provides patient and family education based on physical, behavioral, psychological, developmental, and age-related factors.
  • Documents observations, care provided, and changes in care plans accurately.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities, serving on PI teams and supporting change implementation.
  • Maintains performance, patient, and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in evaluations.

Requirements

  • Current Alabama Board of Nursing RN license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training required or obtain within 30 days of start date.
  • BSN preferred, minimum Associates required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Current ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NRP certifications required.
  • Willingness to work medium work conditions, including prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, sitting, and stooping.
