Registered Nurse Radiation Oncology PRN

We are seeking a professional Registered Nurse (RN) who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other health team members.

Responsibilities

• Assess: Perform appropriate assessment of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental skills. Seek and evaluate information from interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, physicians, non-nursing disciplines, and support staff.
• Plan: Use assessment information and critical thinking to collaboratively develop individualized plans of care. Actively involve patients, families, teams, and physicians in planning, including education and preparation for further support needs post-care (e.g., teaching, referrals, follow-up).
• Implement: Direct the interdisciplinary care team via delegation, coordination, and collaboration. Provide or delegate care consistent with the plan of care, guidelines, and professional licensure. Demonstrate priority-setting, time management, and resource coordination.
• Evaluate: Assess patient responses to interventions through goal achievement, clinical outcomes, and satisfaction. Revise the plan of care as needed and reassess changes.
• Professionalism: Promote the nursing profession and participate in the development of others. Integrate legal and ethical standards into practice, comply with regulatory requirements, and ensure accurate documentation.

Requirements

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice.
• Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of employment.
• RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of hire.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (required as of 4/27/2025; prior hires/promotions are grandfathered under previous requirements).

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, and patient needs, including operating monitors and identifying equipment.
• Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors, including hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, and needs, especially during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for complex equipment operation, including frequent computer use, typing, and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients and supplies, including bending, retrieving, and carrying items of varying weights (up to heavy items).
• Walking and assisting with patient transport, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often in crowded or busy environments.
• May require standing for extended periods.
• For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs and traffic signals.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $37.45 - $57.29, dependent upon experience.
