Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Department

About the Role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate, high-acuity psychiatric care in inpatient and emergency settings. This full-time night shift role involves delivering safe, evidence-based nursing interventions, performing mental status and safety assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and skill expansion in a community-focused healthcare setting, with opportunities to cross-train across various units, including adult inpatient psychiatric wards and emergency psychiatric pods.

You will care for patients experiencing conditions such as depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders, and substance use issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, patient-centered psychiatric care
• Perform mental health assessments and monitor safety
• Administer and evaluate medication responses
• Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health providers, and social services
• Serve as a resource and advocate for patients and families
• Float and cross-train across inpatient and emergency psychiatric units

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or RN Diploma with relevant experience
• Active RN license in the applicable state
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Knowledge of psychiatric nursing theory and practice
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
• Emergency department or crisis stabilization experience
• Acute or critical care nursing experience
