Per Diem position in the 26-bed acute Behavioral Health Sciences unit at Robert Packer Hospital. This interdisciplinary unit serves adolescents from age 14 through adulthood.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an acute care environment. Accountable for delivering coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and ANA scope and standards of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, developing and updating the patient’s plan of care to achieve goals and optimize outcomes.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Performs and maintains essential competencies required by the specific area of hire and population served.
  • Advocates for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning to promote autonomy, dignity, rights, values, and beliefs of patients.
  • Fosters a learning environment for patients, families, nursing, and other healthcare team members, including students.
  • Integrates evidence and best practices into nursing care, using data to improve patient outcomes and ensure safety.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development, practicing at the top of license within legal and ethical parameters.
  • Demonstrates leadership as a change agent, collaborating with the interprofessional care team to coordinate and delegate care.
  • Models professional behaviors and participates in planning and presenting educational programs.
  • Proficient in information technology, including electronic health records and communication systems.
  • Works effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff.
  • Uses independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery.
  • Manages multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations with a positive and supportive attitude.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • BSN in Nursing preferred; previously agreed-upon timelines for obtaining a BSN remain in effect, including for those transitioned from the NLRN Program.
  • Specialty certification preferred.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification is unit-dependent.
  • At least one year of RN experience, or less than one year if transitioned from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program.
  • Must meet unit-specific educational requirements during employment as determined by the Nursing Department and unit.
