A Brief Overview

Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating direct care to assigned patients with simple to complex health care needs in various settings. Works in an environment requiring continuous response to dynamic patient acuity changes with evolving nursing care responsibilities.

What You Will Do

  • Delivers patient care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Care and Practice, Patient Bill of Rights, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Delivers patient care in accordance with specialty-specific standards (e.g., Oncology Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses) as appropriate.
  • Affirms patient plan of care based on changing health care needs.
  • Evaluates patient teaching using appropriate education resources and assesses the effectiveness of the teaching.
  • Models effective leadership skills through role modeling, mentoring, and effective communication.
  • Directs and supervises the practice of ancillary staff (LPN’s, PCA’s, Tech’s, Unit Secretaries, etc.) and is knowledgeable of the NJ Scope of Practice guidelines.
  • Supports a professional practice environment by functioning as a role model and resource person and participating in the orientation of new unit employees.
  • Participates in unit-based and organization-wide activities, committees, and community activities as appropriate.
  • Identifies own learning needs with respect to nursing practice and pursues educational support to meet these needs.
  • Routinely utilizes Evidence-Based Practice literature, policy, and procedure manuals to ensure consistency and accuracy in the delivery of care.
  • Participates actively in the Performance Improvement process to evaluate the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN preferred.

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum one-year current clinical experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Excellent clinical assessment skills, communication skills, and time management skills.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required upon hire.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS through American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • National certification related to specialty area may be required dependent on specialty area.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support may be required dependent on specialty area.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support may be required dependent on specialty area.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation may be required dependent on specialty area.

Pay Range

$44.00/hour - $55.00/hour
