Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit - 24 hours - Midnights

Unit Overview

4 PCU is a 48-bed Progressive Care Unit at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. It offers a fast-paced environment suitable for both new graduates and experienced nurses. The critical care skills developed here serve as excellent foundational training for nurses.

Responsibilities

• Assist with telemetry/cardiac needs
• Administer various cardiac drips
• Observe telemetry patients
• Support pre and post heart catheterization procedures
• Provide trauma care for patients with fractured ribs
• Offer orthopedic surgical services pre and post op
• Care for chest tube patients
• Administer high flow oxygen, BiPAP, and AVAPS
• Implement CIWA protocol (ETOH precautions)
• Treatment of seizures and NIHSS stroke certification
• Manage multiple surgical drains including Jackson Pratt pleur-X, pig-tail, and Accordion drains
• Treatment of renal failure, congestive heart failure, COPD, and asthma
• Provide education and support to patients and families

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
