Registered Nurse - Progression Care - R3
Unit Description
As a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit, you can care for a wide range of moderately complex patients between R3/R4. PCU provides advanced monitoring with sophisticated equipment, intensive treatments, and a team approach to promote wellness through assessment, monitoring, and education in critically ill patients. The Progressive Care nurse primarily treats patients with the following diagnoses:
- Compromised airway requiring intensive respiratory therapy
- Controlled infusion of antiarrhythmic or vasoactive IV drug therapy
- Acute poisoning
- Suicide attempts
- Multisystem failure
- Neurologic abnormalities
- Metabolic crisis
- Multiple trauma
- Chest pain
- Myocardial infarction
- Heart failure
- Hemodynamic instability
- Invasive hemodynamic monitoring
- Post-anesthesia care
- Mechanical ventilation
- Cardiac monitoring
- Arrhythmia analysis
- Thrombolytic therapy
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- Internal/external pacing
- Electrical cardioversion
- Acute dialysis (peritoneal, hemodialysis)
- Post-cardiac arrest
Requirements
Current RN licensure recognized by the State of New York required. Appropriate experience in specific clinical area varies by unit.
