Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect patient care in the Recovery/Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Mets the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs of patients and families.
- Communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
- Reports to the Director of Surgery.
- Performs duties as assigned and requested.
- Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments.
- Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
- Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs.
- Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors.
- Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills.
- Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope.
- Safeguards patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current state RN license.
- Bachelor's degree or associate degree from an accredited nursing school.
- BLS, ACLS, TNCC required.
- 1 year of experience required.
