Registered Nurse PRN
Southwest Behavioral & Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to help fulfill our mission of delivering compassionate care to enhance lives and improve communities. About the Role
The Crisis Unit provides behavioral health interventions in a structured, non-hospital setting that assists adults in resolving behavioral crisis. Services are provided in a locked facility with 24-hour nursing coverage on the premises, including court-ordered treatment. Registered Nurses work as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to provide recovery-based services in a secure environment for consumers in varying levels of crisis.
- Takes a leadership role in operating the unit in the psychiatrist’s absence.
- Supervises clinical staff and contributes to creating a recovery-based environment.
- Performs nursing assessments and develops medical service plans.
- Obtains and executes medication orders from psychiatric prescribers.
- Oversees and maintains medication and medication records in accordance with Agency policies and State regulations.
- Works with psychiatric prescribers to monitor medications.
- Leads clinical staff in collaborating with psychiatric providers and consumers.
- Coordinates medical care with psychiatric prescribers and primary care providers (PCPs).
- Ensures the safe and productive operation of the program in service to the consumer according to Agency policy and procedure.
- Serves as a role model of professional behavior at all times.
Responsibilities
- Thorough comprehension of psychiatric practice, including knowledge of psychiatric medications, their indications, common side effects, reactions, and interactions.
- Ability to work with agitated service participants in crisis and their families to implement behavioral management interventions, including de-escalation techniques.
- Documentation of services, participant treatment, and interventions.
- Knowledge of Arizona Mental Health Law, the petition process, State of Arizona Nursing Rules and Regulations, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision, direct and supervise a team, and function as a team member.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona.
- One to two years of experience in psychiatric nursing; experience in a community-based psychiatric practice is preferred.
- Documentation of education, relevant experience, and credentials.
- Must complete a pre-employment physical examination and TB test.
Pay
$50.00 per hour plus shift differential.
Schedule
This position is PRN (work as needed) with shifts available from 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, reporting to our Kingman Inpatient facility.
