Registered Nurse Preop PACU

Responsibilities

• Facilitate, communicate, and collaborate with the healthcare team and patients/families to address their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
• Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of patients using the nursing process and in compliance with patient care standards, guidelines, and state nurse practice act.
• Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
• Assume responsibility for recovering all cases, both Phase I & II, approximately 30+ cases per day. Recovery occurs in the same area, and RNs must cover both pre-op and PACU areas with 3-4 RNs on each shift.
• Staff is expected to float between pre-op and PACU RNs, managing pre-op calls, PATs, and transports while also handling clinical aspects of pre-op and PACU care.
• The unit occasionally sees recoveries from other departments, though this is rare. OR Suites: 17 PACU Bays: 12 Bays 36 Prep Op Beds Phase I & II recovered in the same areas.

Requirements

• Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or endorsed preferred; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNs.
• Experience: One year experience preferred. Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty.
• Licenses/Certifications: RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
• Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly.
