Registered Nurse, Pre/Post-Op - PRN schedule - Willing to Train!

About the role

Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under his/her direction. Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct patient care in an individual Operating Room.
• Ensure proper techniques and practices are used in accordance to accepted standards of practice.
• Comply with HIPAA regulations and be knowledgeable of patient rights.
• Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license as defined by the State.
• Supervise other personnel in the room and direct or assist as necessary.
• Immediately report any unusual occurrences to charge personnel and document appropriately in the patient record.
• Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication and continuity of patient care.
• Assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care in an effective manner.
• Maintain medical records in an accurate and legible manner.
• Participate in continuing education/in-service training as needed, staff meetings, and Q.A.P.I. program.
• Follow Physician orders and directions from management.
• Actively participate in the development of a healthy work environment.
• Assist in training new staff when needed.
• Balance team and individual responsibilities.
• Recognize each department’s significance and work appropriately with other departments.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required in the state you will be working in.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• At least one year of previous nursing experience is preferred, but new graduates are also welcome to apply.
• Previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical, Telemetry, or Operating Room.

Skills

• Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software.
• Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with printer, copier, telephone, and fax.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%).
• Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
• Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology.
• Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, required 100% of the time.
• Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.

Pay

The pay range for this role starts at $30-32/hr, depending on experience.

Schedule

• PRN position with a variable weekly schedule; may work anywhere from 0-2 days per week, depending on staffing needs and surgery schedules.
• Office hours are Monday-Friday, 6am-4pm; shifts will fall within these hours.
• May need to work earlier or later as required.
