About the role
The Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health is a caregiver for a specific patient population, focusing on expanding knowledge and skills, providing effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team, directing and overseeing care provided by other caregivers, coordinating patient care/unit activities, and ensuring safe and excellent delivery of individualized patient care.
Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care.
- Performs comprehensive data collection and assessment, recognizing clinical and diagnostic status changes, and developing a plan of care.
- Coordinates patient care and transitions, ensuring safe and effective discharge planning.
- Administers medications using bar-scanning and documentation technologies, and communicates with appropriate personnel regarding patient status and treatment plans.
- Evaluates patient progress and intervenes as necessary, addressing ethical issues and enhancing patient satisfaction.
- Adheres to American Nurses Association Code for Nurses and maintains competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
Qualifications
- A minimum of an associate in Nursing or diploma of Nursing degree.
- BSN in progress and/or willing to acquire within three (3) years of hire.
- A current and valid Registered Nurse license to work at the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
- BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
- Six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program.
- The ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, demonstrate accountability, and provide high-quality care based on a strong sense of patient focus.
- National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
