About the Role
Provides leadership to the patient care team in the post-anesthesia setting, performing age-specific assessments, developing individualized care plans, and ensuring safe, effective nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough PACU assessments, develops and implements personalized care plans based on patient data, orders, and procedure criteria.
- Delivers comprehensive nursing care, addressing physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age-related needs.
- Performs routine and emergency nursing procedures, communicates patient condition changes promptly to physicians and staff.
- Administers medications and treatments per protocols, evaluates patient progress, and provides education for discharge and follow-up.
- Communicates with patients' families, reports outcomes to caregivers, and supervises team members, ensuring quality care and effective delegation.
- Organizes workflow efficiently, collaborates within the team, and applies evidence-based practices aligned with professional standards and ethics.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; no prior experience required.
- Valid RN license, BLS, and ACLS or equivalent certifications; additional certifications like PALS or NRP preferred.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, and performing patient care tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a safe, alert manner; perform delegated tasks; and adapt to various clinical situations.
- Licensure varies by state, with specific certification requirements for each location.
