Registered Nurse, Phone Triage Remote

About the role

Provide nursing care to patients/families by utilizing the nursing process via the telephone for all patients.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the nursing process
• Informs Triage Manager of case progress and reports any unusual circumstances
• Assesses patient using exemplary communication skills via the telephone throughout phone interaction
• Assists providers by obtaining accurate and timely information utilizing nursing knowledge and experience
• Follows written protocols for deliverance of care
• Provide patient education
• Documents in electronic medical records as required
• Maintains open and positive communication with providers and other health professionals
• Communicates in a positive manner with patients, families/significant others
• Exhibits excellent listening skills
• Maintains professionalism at all times
• Participates in continuing education programs
• Participates in risk management and quality assurance activities
• Adheres to all New York Spine and Wellness Center policies and procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical field
• Skill in performing tasks appropriately
• Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients
• Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities
• RN degree, BSN desired
• Completion of an accredited state RN program
• Current RN license and CPR certification required
• 1 year experience in professional nursing desired
• Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously, organize, prioritize, make decisions and work efficiently and effectively under deadlines
• Ability to express oneself in a clear, concise and organized manner both verbally and in writing
• Ability to think through a problem, analyze and break it down into parts to resolve or come up with a logical solution
• Ability to exercise good judgment, keeping in mind company policies and procedures as guidelines
• Will use hands to finger and handle or feel; computer keyboard and mouse used regularly during the work day
• Must be able to speak and hear; phone work required regularly
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus; computer used continuously throughout the work day
• Must be able to sit for the majority of the day
