About the Unit
The PERIOP unit averages sixty patients daily and delivers top-notch care for patients and caregivers across all ages, from pediatrics to mature adults. Our 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio ensures excellent care. The team is versatile, handling all phases of the surgical experience—pre-op, PACU Phase I, and PACU Phase II—and thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. Progress is central to the unit, with ideas encouraged and implemented quickly. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient care and perform critical administrative functions, including accurate patient identification and meticulous medical record documentation.
- Manage pre-op, PACU Phase I, and PACU Phase II areas while adhering to provider orders.
- Facilitate effective communication among multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide patient education and participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability to new technologies, and strong technical skills.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare teams while maintaining integrity.
- Pivot and refocus in a fast-paced environment to optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Licensed in the State of South Dakota (or able to obtain upon hire).
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (can be obtained upon hire).
- One plus year of clinical experience preferred.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, no weekends, no holidays, and no on-call. Two 12-hour shifts per week with a set schedule of 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM.
